The Maintenance Technician is required to perform tasks involved in the upkeep of the building and grounds, installation, maintenance, maintaining and repairing of hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical and electrical systems on all production machines, equipment and building. May be required to perform purchasing and inventory of maintenance parts & supplies and successfully negotiate and interact with suppliers, customers, manufacturers and internal department personnel.
The incumbent is expected to be a self-starter, a good manager of time, work independently and follow Pretium’s standards for safety and conduct.
- Maintenance Technician I – entry level: perform minor repairs and improvements in a variety of trades under supervision. Major duties include general maintenance on building and machines, preventive maintenance on plant machines, light electrical work, carpentry and plumbing support, and maintaining a clean and safe work area.
- Maintenance Technician II – developed trade: perform preventive maintenance and repairs to HVAC equipment, electrical equipment, carpentry and structural repairs, follow plant specifications, and maintain safety protocols. Requires ability to work shifts and overtime as needed.
- Maintenance Technician III – advanced level: diagnose and repair production equipment, read schematics and ladder logic, perform PMs, place orders for parts, install and maintain hydraulic/pneumatic systems, support machine installations/moves, coordinate projects, and uphold high safety standards. Must follow plant specifications and wear PPE as required.
- Maintain and repair machinery and equipment, monitor safety, and ensure a clean work area as directed by supervision.
- Support food safety responsibilities where applicable, ensuring maintenance work meets food safety standards and quality procedures.
Education And Experience
- Maintenance Technician I – High school diploma / GED; one year of related experience
- Maintenance Technician II – High School Diploma / GED plus technical certificates; three years of related experience
- Maintenance Technician III – Associate degree in a technical field; five years of related experience
Additional Work Experience
- Experience with plastics blow molding operations is a plus
- Working knowledge of relay control systems and PLCs (e.g., Mitsubishi, Siemens)
- Ability to read, edit, monitor and modify ladder logic; proficient in reading schematics
