Service Technician Job Description
Commercial Mechanical Systems & Service, LLC (CMSS) is seeking an experienced Service Technician to join our skilled mechanical service team. This full‑time position focuses on servicing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systems for commercial and industrial clients throughout Utah.
Responsibilities- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on commercial HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, rooftop units (RTUs), variable air volume (VAV) systems, and split systems.
- Install mechanical components and systems according to specifications, codes, and safety standards.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using appropriate tools, instruments, and techniques.
- Accurately document service activities, parts used, and system performance.
- Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams regarding work performed and service recommendations.
- Adhere to company safety policies, procedures, and standards at all times.
- Participate in on‑call rotation and respond to emergency service requests as needed.

- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or HVAC certification preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience servicing commercial mechanical HVAC systems.
- EPA Universal Certification required, additional state or local licenses a plus.
- Strong understanding of HVAC components, controls, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in varied environments, including rooftops and confined spaces.
- Ability to climb ladders and access rooftop or mechanical equipment.
- Work in confined spaces or variable weather conditions when required.
- Lift and carry tools or equipment for jobsite assessments.
- Working beyond standard hours when necessary to meet project or client needs.
