Job Summary

Electrician Apprentice – Level I-III at the University of Utah. Install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems for university facilities, following blueprints in construction and repair projects. Ensure wiring compliance with local and national regulations and identify potential electrical hazards. Perform routine maintenance tasks under close supervision.

• Install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems for the organization’s facilities.
• Follow blueprints to install electrical systems in facilities under construction.
• Ensure proper wiring during construction or repairs and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Perform tests to locate potential electrical hazards and execute necessary repairs.
• Carry out routine tasks under supervision, completing assignments with increasing independence as level advances.

• User of the university’s apprenticeship program (valid or ability to obtain an apprentice electrician license in Utah).
• Human relation and communication skills (equivalency: 1 year education can substitute for 2 years related work).
• Continuous compliance with the qualified apprentice program, including classroom participation and on‑the‑job training.

• Licensing as an apprentice electrician in the State of Utah.
• Valid Utah driver’s license (dependent on assignment).
• Demonstrated potential to perform essential functions of the job as outlined below.
• Experience and/or education level supporting progression from Electrician I (entry‑level) through II (intermediate) to III (skilled).
