Diesel Maintenance Technician - is responsible for performing for the repair and required preventive maintenance of shuttle buses that are key to the Driver Provider Fleet, while keeping up our level of commitment to safety and customer service. The role has daily preventive and repair tasks to support our operations and ensure the success of our entire organization! The work location of this full-time position is at location at Salt Lake City.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform major diagnostics and repairs on buses and/or motor coach diesel engines.
- Repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems including emissions, injectors, turbos, etc.
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance.
- Collaborate with repair team to diagnose problems with vehicles and plan repairs
- Inspecting, trouble shooting, diagnosing and performing maintenance on vehicles.
- Perform safety inspections of vehicles and prepare safety documents required by DOT, Miller and any other Federal, State or Local regulations.
- Interpret work orders and technical manuals.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that the work meets specifications and regulations.
- Follows all Miller Transportation and OSHA safety guidelines and policies.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Other duties as required.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be extremely mechanically skilled and detailed oriented, work in a fast‑paced environment, and perform at a high level of accuracy on a consistent basis.
- Must have PROVEN and VERIFIABLE experience in a similar mechanical repair shop.
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written), incl. presentation skills.
- Effective problem‑solving skills.
- Must possess own mechanic's tool set and have the ability to use those tools and test equipment.
- Strength and stamina required to work with heavy equipment (up to 75 pounds) and work in awkward positions.
- The ability to keep up with changing technology and updates.
- Experience in use of Computer and associated software preferred.
- Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug test, and adhere to Drug/Alcohol & Employment Policies.
- The ability to work alone and as part of a team.
- Diesel Diagnostics/Troubleshooting: 2 years (Preferred).
- Emissions: 2 years (Preferred).
- Injector repair/replace: 2 years (Preferred).
- Diesel engine repair: 2 years (Preferred).
License/Certification:
- Class B CDL with air brake and passenger endorsements (Preferred)
- Driver's License (Required) with good driving record.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Work in Salt Lake City with travel to remote locations as needed
- High school diploma or greater
- Undergo a pre‑employment background investigation
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- 23 years or older for company vehicle insurance requirements
