Fitness Manager
This role is for a highly motivated, sales‑driven leader who will work on the floor, set appointments, build relationships with members, sell training packages, and develop a personal trainer team. The Fitness Manager reports to the District Fitness Manager and is responsible for driving sales, coaching staff, managing payroll, and ensuring a high‑quality fitness experience for all members.
Position PurposeBuild a cohesive Personal Training (PT) team, maintain a healthy client pipeline, and deliver exceptional fitness experiences to members.
Responsibilities- Achieve sales targets month‑over‑month, driving membership growth, and ensure the team meets or exceeds goals for new PT agreements, client retention, and overall revenue generation.
- Collaborate with the membership sales team to support new member onboarding, drive sales initiatives, and establish a smooth transition into the club experience.
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise staff members, including Personal Training Managers, Assistant Fitness Managers, and Personal Trainers.
- Manage the payroll process for Assistant Fitness Managers and personal trainers to ensure timely payment.
- Communicate goals, expectations, and procedures to other department leaders and staff members.
- Ensure all fitness staff have appropriate certifications and training such as CPR, First Aid, and personal trainer certifications.
- Provide constructive feedback to staff members on their performance.
- Ensure high‑quality customer service by addressing member concerns, managing membership inquiries, and resolving issues promptly.
- Engage with members in a friendly manner, actively listening to their needs and providing helpful responses.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain proper certifications.
- Supervise the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility, including equipment, locker rooms, and common areas.
- In emergencies or disruptions, communicate calmly and clearly with staff and members to ensure safety and well‑being.
- At least 2 years of management experience; fitness/personal training management is a plus.
- 3–4 years of customer service experience.
- Personal Training sales experience highly preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent relationship‑building and influencing skills with people at all levels.
- Strong detail orientation; systematic problem‑solving and time‑management skills.
- Excellent MS Office skills.

- Must successfully pass a background check.
- CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Valid PT certification.
- Previous sales experience required.
- Ability to work in a gym setting; move about club floors, rooms, and communicate with employees, members, and the public.
- Ability to access and operate company computer systems—preparing documents, entering data, reading reports via database or email.
- Ability to lift more than 40 lbs repeatedly.
