Detention Guard

Join a dedicated team as a Detention Guard at Salt Spring Island RCMP. Monitor the safety of persons in custody while supporting law enforcement with essential duties and responsibilities.

This position under the supervision of the RCMP involves observing and recording prisoner activity, ensuring cellblock security, and maintaining a clean environment. Successful candidates will manage meals, monitor fire safety, and dispense medications as trained. Flexibility is key with structured and casual shifts available both locally and across Vancouver Island.

Key Responsibilities:

• Observe and check prisoners frequently and using CCTV

• Assist RCMP in searching prisoners when needed

• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of cell blocks

• Record and report any damages to cells

• Dispense approved medications under supervision

Requirements:

• Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification

• Ability to obtain RCMP Reliability Clearance

• Strong written and verbal English skills

• Basic computer skills and ability to lift 20 kilograms

• Willingness to undergo required guard training
