SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH Specialist) - Plymouth (Supply)

We are currently recruiting dedicated SEMH Specialists to support children and young people across local primary and secondary schools in the area on a day-to-day supply basis. In this role, you will work closely with pupils who face Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, acting as a trusted mentor to help them build confidence, regulate their emotions, and succeed in the classroom environment.

• Learning Strategies: Help pupils access the curriculum by adapting tasks, implementing tailored learning strategies, and encouraging independent learning.
• Behaviour Support: Use proactive de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviours and create a calm, structured environment conducive to learning.
• Emotional Regulation: Act as a trusted adult, supporting pupils with developing social skills, self-regulation, and essential coping strategies.

  Work alongside class teachers and SENCOs to deliver targeted support plans and track vital pupil progress.

• Previous experience supporting children or young adults with SEMH, EBD, or complex SEN needs.
• Strong behaviour management skills with a patient, non-judgemental, and adaptable approach.
• Training in Team-Teach or price/de-escalation strategies is highly desirable, but not essential.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).

• Flexibility: Work the days that fit your schedule with regular day-to-day placements.
• Competitive Pay: Paid via PAYE at £92.56 - £95.00 per day.
• Schedule: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Monday to Friday).
