  • Avionics Experience – Must have experience with small general aviation aircraft (Cessna 172‑208, Piper, Beechcraft including King Air, etc.) and modern‑day avionics (Garmin required, other major manufacturers a plus).
  • Certification – FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification is a strong benefit, especially with a IA certification. For a quality candidate it is not required but recommended.
  • Experience – Minimum of 5 years of experience with avionics maintenance, upgrading, and troubleshooting, 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
  • Technical Skills – Ability to read wiring diagrams, interpret manufacturer and FAA documentation, and quote projects ranging from basic repairs to full‑system upgrades.
  • Work Conditions – Must be able to stand for long periods, lift heavy items, and work in a hangar environment without heating or air conditioning.
  • Documentation Interpretation – The manager must be able to read in English, and understand all manuals from the manufacturers, FAA, and other documentation that is put out by manufacturers.
  • Experience with common avionics tasks and tools – Must have experience with common avionics tasks like certifying pitot‑static systems, troubleshooting pitot and static system issues, transponder certification, and the tools associated with these tasks. Common tools for diagnosing issues with modern avionics systems.
  • Other Requirements – Must be eligible to work in the U.S.; must live within 30 minutes of the workplace (unless otherwise arranged) or relocate within the area; must pass initial DOT drug screening and random tests after employment; must pass the TSA regulation requirements to obtain a General Aviation Access badge or Secure Access if licensed; self‑motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team;

    must have basic tools.

Job Description

We’re seeking an experienced Avionics Manager to lead a growing team in maintaining, upgrading, and installing avionics systems in small general aviation aircraft. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, installations, team development, and departmental growth. The area’s demand is growing, and this department requires a leader who will be able to work with the company team and grow the department.

Strong modern avionics experience—especially with Garmin—is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Leadership to the members of the department – The position requires a leader who can build respect from their team and lead the department.
  • Provide Accurate Estimates – Prepare quotes for repairs, maintenance, upgrades, and installations.
  • Hands‑On Troubleshooting & Repair – Diagnose and resolve avionics issues, perform routine and unscheduled maintenance, and ensure systems pass all required testing.
  • Customer Communication – Discuss job details, timelines, and recommendations with customers clearly and professionally.
  • Cross Department Collaboration – Coordinate with other departments to support smooth workflow.
  • Regulatory Compliance – Follow all FAA and Repair Station requirements and ensure work is completed to regulatory standards.
  • Workflow & Team Leadership – Monitor shop workflow with management, mentor technicians, and contribute to continual improvement of the department.
  • Parts Coordination – Work with office staff to order parts and track progress for upcoming jobs.
  • Education of Team members – Part of the responsibility is to help improve the department through mentoring and training of the members of the team. Helping to educate each other, the team has the ability for improvement and growth.
  • Will maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot small general aviation aircraft – The company works with the Aviation Community on Small General Aviation aircraft. Examples include Cessna 150‑Cessna 208, Piper Single and Twin Engines, Beechcraft Bonanza – Baron
    - King Air, Robinson Helicopter R22 – R44 – R66. These aircraft serve as examples, but they are not the full list of aircraft maintained by the facility.
