Network Engineer I (Telecommunications) – Frontier Internet

Responsibilities- Apply engineering design and policies within a telecommunications local exchange service environment.
- Create and maintain outside plant facilities documentation, including cable sizing, counts, records, and permitting in rights‑of‑way and dedicated easements.
- Collaborate with Network Planning, Central Office Engineering, and Operations teams to support customer service issues, new growth activity, coordination, damaged facilities, emergency repairs, replacements, and upgrades.
- Collect field data using digital cameras, GPS data collectors, and other measuring devices; train less experienced staff on equipment use and maintenance.
- Use technologies such as Google Earth, ArcGIS, Cadtel, and other web‑based applications to compile field data and modify preliminary plans.
- Perform face‑to‑face communication to convey information accurately, provide scheduling and status reporting, and coordinate with less experienced staff.
- Excavate and navigate handholes, duct systems, and varied right‑of‑way terrain, locating and marking underground ducts/cables and utility poles.
- Train staff on workplace safety, industry information, technology, and best practices.
- Prioritize and track assigned tasks to ensure timely completion.
- Learn new telecommunications equipment, client‑specific equipment, conduit design, fiber‑optic specifications, and usage.
- Read and analyze blueprints, structural building drawings, construction drawings, and plans; evaluate designs for constructability.
- Salary Range: $66,000 to $102,000
- 20 PTO days + 10 paid holidays per year

- Technical degree or equivalent experience; B.S. preferred
- Preferred:
Civil/Structural Engineering, Building Construction - 0–3 years’ experience producing engineering drawings
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work autonomously without supervision
- Experience producing structural and/or civil engineering drawings for telecommunications new site builds, upgrades, and fiber‑optic networks (or similar site engineering drawings) required
- Telecommunications and/or utility experience preferred
- Ability to review site documentation and gather necessary information to complete assignments
- Ability to drive to meet with customers and others as needed
