Salary- General Engineering Tech I (A19): $48,244 – $76,028 annually
- General Engineering Tech II (A20): $51,158 – $81,351 annually
- Minimum Salary: $48,244.00
- Maximum Salary: $81,351.00
- Anticipated Starting Salary: $60,000 – $67,000 per year

Essential Duties for General Engineering Tech I- Identifies, analyzes, and implements solutions for complex maintenance problems.
- Inspects construction and routine and non‑routine contract maintenance methods and workmanship to ensure contractors build and maintain roadways, bridges, traffic signals and related highway structures in accordance with plans and specifications.
- May train other employees.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
- Inspects complex maintenance and construction‑related work to include hot mix overlay to ensure compliance with safety, laws and regulations, contract specifications and departmental procedures.
- Prepares plans, specifications, and estimate (PS&E) using automated programs; reviews plans, enters data and updates, stores and maintains PS&E documents and files.
- Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent in general high school studies.
- Experience for General Engineering Tech I: 4 years in transportation engineering support, roadway maintenance, construction inspection, or related work experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full‑time or prorated part‑time equivalent).
- Experience for General Engineering Tech II: 6 years in transportation engineering support, roadway maintenance, construction inspection, or related work experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full‑time or prorated part‑time equivalent).
- Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
- Applicable inspection methods, procedures and techniques.
- Materials used in highway/bridge construction and maintenance.
- Maintenance concepts, methods, policies and requirements.
- Using computers, applicable programs, applications, and systems.
- Maintaining a safe and effective working relationship with others.
