Role Overview: A Respiratory Therapist provides essential respiratory care, including administering oxygen therapy, ventilator management, and aerosolized medications to patients of all ages. They assess, monitor, and adjust treatments based on respiratory evaluations, collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop personalized care plans. The role involves educating patients and families on managing respiratory conditions, responding swiftly to emergencies, and maintaining equipment and documentation in compliance with hospital protocols.



Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner License
• Registered Respiratory Therapist License
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification
• Additional certifications such as NRP and S.T.A.B.L.E. are required for NICU roles

• Deliver direct respiratory care and monitor patient responses
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to create and implement treatment plans
• Educate patients and families on respiratory therapies and equipment use
• Manage emergency situations efficiently in critical care settings
• Ensure proper maintenance of respiratory equipment and accurate record-keeping
