Position

Statement

San Domenico School, a K-12 independent school in San Anselmo, is seeking an experienced, dynamic teaching professional for the role of Musical Theatre Production Supervisor for the Middle School and Upper School musical productions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and manage student technical crew
  • Design and construct set and props for productions
  • Compile sound and video effects for productions
  • Educate and support middle and high school students in all of the above areas
The Musical Theatre Production Supervisor will:
  • Communicate with Director, Music Director, and student stage manager to track technical needs for show, including audio, video, scenic and properties needs
  • Communicate with the Technical Director regarding all systems that pertain to the teaching, storage and performance space.
  • Communicate audio and lighting needs and system capabilities to engineering contractors
  • Find, record, and edit sound effects for show
  • Collect and/or create show-specific props and furniture, including loan or purchase and transportation of items or materials
  • Work with Director on scenic design for the show within safety, spacial, time, and budget restrictions
  • Complete scenic construction, including but not limited to the use of table and miter saws, sanders, powered drills, and other construction tools and machinery
  • Direct a parent volunteer to crew to assist with construction, painting, and props creation
  • Work to, or coordinate with Digital Arts department to, collect and edit video effects for show
  • Coordinate additional equipment rentals as needed, including pickup and return
  • Coordinate with lighting and audio engineering contractors during technical rehearsals and performances
  • Recruit and coordinate student crew, including builders, stage crew, dressers, followspot operators, and VFX/SFX operator
  • Create and post technical crew meeting and workday schedules, including weekly meetings with crew members
  • Communicate in a timely and clear manner with student crew and adult support (other designers, teachers, parent volunteers, etc)
  • Plan and map out special effects cues and set changes for show, and assign and train student crew accordingly
  • Assist in reserving rehearsal spaces
  • Schedule & participate in paper tech, cue-to-cue, and all technical rehearsals and shows
  • Record and present stage crew notes
  • Plan and direct show strike, including organizing cast and crew work assignments
  • Coordinate with the Director on production-related purchases and expenses. Submit all receipts in a timely manner and no later than one week after the show closes.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment in the Hall of the Arts building, including our performance stage in the Carol Frances Buck Hall
  • Be available afternoon/evenings and weekends to support productions
Core Qualifications
  • Must have 4+ years experience in a live performance setting (theatre, music, dance, etc). Experience in student or community theatre production is a plus
