Aboutthe Role
The Chemistry Teacher at San Domenico School leads three college-preparatory Chemistry courses, fostering an academically rigorous and inclusive environment. This role emphasizes both deep scientific inquiry and personal character, ensuring the program reflects the school’s core values of study, reflection, community, and service.
The ideal candidate is an accomplished instructor experienced in diverse, dynamic modalities—from hands-on laboratory work to interactive digital instruction via Canvas. Teaching within a block schedule, you will design engaging lessons and facilitate weekly labs.

Responsibilities of a Chemistry Teacher- Plan lessons and post weekly agendas and resources to the school's online LMS (Canvas) for 4 classes.
- Teach lessons in a block schedule with clear scientific explanation, labs, and interactive lessons.
- The School’s faculty strives to set for its students an example of high ethical standards, moral behavior, and devotion to excellence. This responsibility involves the following:
- To maintain a climate of trust and mutual respect that encourages students to risk asking the questions, expressing their opinions, and making mistakes necessary to learn.
- To offer students clear educational objectives for each course supported by appropriate assignments, activities, and evaluation.
- To accurately assess each student’s progress and inform the student, the parents, the academic advisor and the appropriate administrator immediately of any serious difficulty.
- To show concern for and nurture the student’s intellectual, social, emotional, and ethical development.
- To work collaboratively with colleagues within the Science department and within the Upper School.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related subject
- Previous experience teaching Chemistry courses at the high school level
- Proficiency with technology
- This position requires valid U.S. work authorization at the start of employment.
- Master's degree in related subject or education
- California Single Subject Teaching Credential
The salary range for this position is $70,400 – $140,000 annually. Final placement within this range is commensurate with a candidate’s specific experience and qualifications; typically, those with fewer years of experience can expect placement toward the lower end of the scale.
As this is a temporary appointment, the role is ineligible for most School-sponsored benefit programs. However, the position does include a daily lunch on scheduled work days.
