June 15th-19th, June 22nd-26th, July 13th-17th and July 20th-24th (grades K-5)
Mandatory Training:
June 12 (for June staff) and July 10 (for July staff).

San Domenico Explorers Camp is seeking enthusiastic, environmentally minded Summer Naturalist Instructors to join our Explorers Summer Camp Program. Camp takes place on San Domenico School’s stunning 500+ acre campus, including a 1-acre organic garden. Campers rotate through a wide range of hands‑on activities such as gardening, cooking, arts and crafts, team‑building games, hiking, and nature exploration. Our program emphasizes curiosity, creativity, and connection to the natural world.
This position is a great opportunity for teachers and educators on summer break who enjoy working outdoors and inspiring young learners.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, nature‑loving Outdoor Educator (Summer Naturalist) to join our summer camp team! In this role, you’ll design and lead engaging, hands‑on experiences that help campers ages 5–10 explore, discover, and fall in love with nature.
From hiking forest trails to leading nature games and outdoor adventures, you’ll turn curiosity into learning every day. The ideal candidate brings a background in ecology or natural sciences, enjoys working with children, and knows how to spark wonder, confidence, and excitement in young explorers.
Job Responsibilities- Plan and lead fun, age‑appropriate nature and ecology activities
- Teach basic science concepts through games, stories, and exploration
- Lead hikes, outdoor discovery time, and cooperative team‑building games
- Create a safe, welcoming, and joyful environment for all campers
- Supervise and support campers during activities
- Communicate with camp directors, families, and fellow staff
- Observe and share camper participation and progress
- Participate in all‑camp special events such as treasure hunts, games, and skits
- Background in ecology, natural sciences, environmental education, or a related field (degree preferred)
- Experience working with children in a camp, classroom, or outdoor setting
- Curiosity and knowledge about local plants, animals, and ecosystems
- Creativity and enthusiasm for hands‑on learning
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
- Mandatory Training:
June 12 (for June staff) and July 10 (for July staff). - This position is nonexempt, which is eligible for paid overtime in accordance with applicable state and federal law.
- The position pays $25–$32 per hour. Final placement within this range is commensurate with a candidate’s specific experience and qualifications; typically, those with fewer years of experience can expect placement toward the lower end of the scale.
- As a temporary summer employee, this position is ineligible for most school benefits.
