Vaco is partnering with a small, early-stage manufacturing startup to identify a hands‑on Interim Controller. This onsite, fractional role is ideal for someone who enjoys building accounting functions from the ground up. The initial engagement is approximately three months, with the opportunity to continue in an ongoing capacity overseeing a bookkeeper.

$60.00/hr – $75.00/hr

• Set up Quick Books accounting software, including chart of accounts, workflows, and controls
• Build and manage core accounting processes in a startup environment
• Oversee inventory accounting, valuation, and cost of goods sold for a manufacturing operation
• Transfer, validate, and reconcile data from the inventory management system into Quick Books
• Manage sales recognition, accounts payable, and journal entries
• Maintain an accurate and clean general ledger
• Document accounting processes and establish scalable procedures
• Oversee and review bookkeeper activities after initial setup

• Manufacturing accounting experience is required, including inventory and costing
• Proven experience setting up Quick Books for small or startup companies
• Experience integrating inventory systems with accounting software
• Comfortable working onsite in a startup environment
• Hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
