Position Summary

The Accounts Payable Manager oversees all aspects of the accounts payable function within a manufacturing organization. This role ensures timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, manages payment cycles, and maintains compliance with internal controls and industry regulations. The AP Manager will work closely with procurement, production, and finance teams to support operational efficiency and cost control.

Key Responsibilities
  • AP Operations: Manage end-to-end accounts payable processes, including invoice matching (3-way match), payment runs, and vendor reconciliations.
  • Manufacturing Focus: Ensure accurate coding of invoices to production cost centers, raw materials, and overhead accounts.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and develop AP staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability.
  • Vendor Management: Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, resolve discrepancies, and negotiate payment terms when needed.
  • Compliance & Controls: Ensure adherence to SOX, GAAP, and company policies; maintain robust internal controls.
  • Process Improvement: Implement automation and best practices to streamline AP workflows and reduce manual errors.
  • Reporting: Prepare AP aging reports, cash flow forecasts, and metrics for management review.
  • Collaboration: Partner with procurement and inventory teams to resolve PO/invoice discrepancies and support production schedules.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years in accounts payable, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
    • Experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of ERP systems (Epicor, or similar).
    • Knowledge of 3-way matching and inventory-related accounting.
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and cost accounting.
  • Experience with AP automation tools.
