JIB Accountant

About the Opportunity

Vaco is partnering with a growing oil and gas company seeking a JIB Accountant to provide immediate support during a transition period. This role is expected to begin as a contract engagement with strong potential to convert to a full-time position for the right individual. The environment is collaborative, entrepreneurial, and ideal for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats and adapting to changing priorities.

• Perform monthly Joint Interest Billing (JIB) processes and partner billings
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Calculate and record overhead allocations
• Manage accruals and month-end accounting activities
• Reconcile accounts and investigate variances
• Support accounting operations related to working and non-operating interests
• Assist with ad hoc reporting and special projects
• Collaborate with accounting leadership to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting

• Strong Joint Interest Billing (JIB) accounting experience required
• Hands-on experience with journal entries, accruals, overhead calculations, and monthly billing cycles
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
• OGSYS experience is a plus but not required
• Ability to work independently and quickly become productive with minimal ramp-up time
