Senior State & Local Tax Consultant

Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated Senior State & Local Tax Consultant to join our dynamic tax consulting team. In this role, you will deliver high-quality sales and use tax advisory services, provide technical expertise on complex tax issues, and support client engagements from inception through resolution. This position is ideal for a seasoned tax professional looking to deepen their technical expertise and contribute to innovative solutions for our diverse client base.

Key Responsibilities Client Advisory & Project Management:
Manage and execute sales and use tax compliance, planning, and consulting projects for a range of clients. Analyze tax positions, identify risks, and develop strategies to optimize tax outcomes. Serve as a trusted advisor, communicating complex tax concepts and solutions effectively to clients. Technical Expertise & Research:
Stay abreast of developments in state and local tax laws. Conduct in-depth research and analysis to support tax positions and recommendations. Prepare technical memoranda, reports, and presentations for internal and client use. Collaboration & Business Development:
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to integrate tax strategies into broader business solutions. Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, thought leadership articles, and client presentations. Mentor junior staff and provide guidance on technical issues as needed. Operational Excellence:
Ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards. Continuously seek process improvements and contribute to the overall growth and efficiency of the practice. Qualifications Education & Credentials:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, JD, or Master’s in Taxation) is a plus.

Experience:

3-5+ years of experience in sales and use tax consulting, public accounting, or corporate tax roles. Demonstrated experience in managing complex tax projects and client engagements. Technical

Strong understanding of state and local tax laws. Proficiency in tax research and compliance software.

Soft Skills:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for translating complex technical issues into clear, actionable insights. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under tight deadlines.
