Currently, we are accepting resumes for a talented Senior Interior Designer to join our team. At Huckabee, the Senior Interior Designer has diverse knowledge of interior architecture design principles, practices and is responsible for leading and managing the interior design vision for projects through completion.

Responsibilities
  • Lead interior design professionals and teams in interior architecture, design strategy and complete project development
  • Responsible for the implementation of project’s design vision, concept, coordination, and quality of the design deliverables and design presentations
  • Seek guidance when additional technical knowledge is needed to address project challenges
  • Mentor a team of professionals by identifying and challenging with growth through professional development opportunities
  • Collaborate with owner and team to fully understand the individuality of the client/project and development of the programmatic needs and direction
  • Educate clients and project teams on current and future interior design and industry trends
  • Responsible for keeping the Principal, Project Architect / Leader and other team members informed of results of all internal project meetings
  • Navigate high level challenges with the Principal and other team members when needed
  • Responsible for the accuracy, coordination, and quality of the BIM deliverable through the management of the Project BIM execution plan
  • Maintain proficiency regarding building materials, construction methods, costs, codes, and regulatory requirements for best practices implementation using a universal design approach
  • Research, create and modify specifications under the direction of a specification writer
  • In collaboration with the project team, ensure feasibility, constructability, and life safety/code requirements are met
  • In collaboration with the project team, maintain opinion of probable cost, assist in substitution requests and participate in cost reduction strategies
  • When required the Senior Interior Designer is responsible for scheduling, managing, and leading project meetings with consultants and the internal project team; set consultant expectations
  • Incremental project deliverable scheduling
  • Leading frequent coordination meetings
  • Utilizing BIM and clash detecting software to coordinate systems
  • Maintaining goals of the client through design
  • Assist during the construction phase, including: working with the team to keep an accurate record of all interior finish material changes, review shop drawings as required, and conduct incremental site visits
  • Evaluate team and assign tasks to ensure productivity
Direct Report

This position reports directly to a Regional Interior Design Director.

Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience working in commercial architecture and interior design field
  • 5 years of experience in mentoring and creating design concepts and direction to a team of designers
  • Active registered Interior Design licensure required
  • Experience in a quality control effort in an architectural or Interior design firm required
  • Experience as a mentor and educator to Interiors staff required
  • Institutional facilities experience required; educational facilities experience preferred
  • Proficiency in the use of 2D/3D software, including Enscape, Form It, Sketch Up, BIM 360, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator required, and Revit preferred
  • Knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and building codes
  • Ability to conceptualize, design and detail solutions
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
