Position Information
  • Type: Permanent - Full Time
  • Location: San Antonio, Texas
  • Compensation: $315,000 - $351,000 (plus incentives)
  • Incentives: Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), Relocation, Sign-On Bonus
Opportunity Highlights

As the Pulmonary Section Chief, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing outpatient pulmonary clinics, bronchoscopy, inpatient pulmonary consults, and the medical intensive care unit.
  • Supporting the VA's educational mission by mentoring trainees and enhancing training programs.
  • Communicating with administration to achieve patient care metrics.
Work Environment

This role blends inpatient and outpatient duties within a rapidly growing facility, providing exceptional care for a predominantly older veteran population with significant medical comorbidities.

Team Structure

You will lead a collaborative team comprising:

  • 5 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
  • 11 Physicians
  • 4 Registered Nurses (RNs)

Basic/Preferred Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Full, unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
  • Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree.

  • Board Certification in Pulmonary Critical Care.
  • Physical requirements as per VA policies.
  • Successful background investigation and security clearance.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
