Join the South Texas Veterans Health Care System as a Staff Radiologist located in San Antonio, TX. This position includes a recruitment/relocation incentive and is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).

Base pay range: $ - $ per year.

Summary

The South Texas Veterans Health Care System is recruiting a Staff Radiologist who will serve as a Clinical Diagnostic Radiologist. A Recruitment/Relocation Incentive has been authorized for a highly qualified candidate.

Qualifications
  • Basic Requirements
    • United States Citizenship.
    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree from a VA‑approved school.
    • Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the United States or the District of Columbia.
    • Completion of an accredited core specialty residency leading to eligibility for board certification.
    • Residency approved by ACGME or AOA or a non‑US residency followed by at least five years of verified U.S. practice deemed adequate by the Medical Staff Executive Committee.
    • Current physicians who meet the previous qualification standard are considered to meet the basic requirements.
    • English language proficiency – spoken and written.
  • Preferred Experience – Fellowship‑trained Cardiovascular/Thoracic Radiologist, up‑to‑date cardiac imaging (MRI and CT), vascular imaging (CT and MR angiography), oncologic imaging. Board certified or eligible in Radiology.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Moderate lifting: 15‑44 lb.
    • Moderate carrying: 15‑44 lb.
    • Reach above shoulder.
    • Use of fingers; both hands required.
    • Walking: 6 hr; standing: 6 hr; repeated bending: 2‑4 hr.
    • Depth perception, color discrimination, hearing (aid permitted).
    • Mental/emotional stability; ability to perform privileges and physical exam independently; cognitive stability.
Duties
  • Continuously available until the announcement closes (October 21, 2025). First cut‑off date for application review:
    November 4, 2025.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, section‑level committees, and peer review committees.
  • Demonstrate effective communication with staff and leadership.
  • Act as section chief when the service chief is on leave.
  • Maintain VA training requirements and credentialing documentation.
  • Participate in FPPE/OPPE processes and peer review procedures.
  • Engage in clinical management tasks: indirect patient care, adherence to CPRS documentation rules, and maintaining integrity of Protected Health Information.
  • Facilitate clinic staff productivity and meet national productivity goals.
  • Lead quality control and quality management activities; participate in patient safety initiatives.
  • Establish imaging protocols, review imaging requests, manage utilization, ensure appropriate pre‑procedural preparation, and oversee technologist performance.
  • Provide rapid interpretation and communication of imaging results, including critical finding notification.
  • Offer consultative service to referring physicians, provide comparative reports, and participate in clinical conferences and committees.
  • Maintain privileges and practice in the specialty field; follow Professional Standards Board procedures.
  • Fulfill teaching responsibilities: house staff and medical student teaching in the imaging service.
