Part-time Counselor- Holy Name Catholic School

Overview

The School Counselor, under the supervision of the Principal and Vice‑Principal, is employed to provide educational, career, social and personal counseling for all students in order to support each child’s optimal development and to fulfill the mission and philosophy of the school.

• Provide a comprehensive counseling program including classroom guidance, individual counseling, small group counseling, crisis counseling, and consultation services.
• Coordinate the campus guidance program in collaboration with campus administration and staff.
• Guide students in educational and career planning.
• Attend discipline, attendance, and academic review committee meetings as needed.
• Provide consultation to campus administration and staff to effectively support their efforts to foster each child’s optimum academic, social, emotional, spiritual, and behavioral development.
• Provide support, consultation, and counseling to parents who may need skills to effectively support their child’s optimum development.
• Maintain an open and collaborative relationship with the administration, faculty, and staff.
• Make referrals and follow‑up with community providers/specialists as necessary to support student progress and school success.
• Utilize data for campus counseling program evaluation and planning.
• Abide by the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees and maintain confidentiality regarding school matters.
• Perform duties consistent with the policies of the School and the Archdiocese of San Antonio Department of Catholic Schools.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the campus administration.

• Master’s degree in Counseling or related mental health field (Licensure or certification preferred).
• Master’s degree in Psychology or Social Work with relevant coursework in counseling theories, adolescence, career development, multicultural counseling, and vocational testing.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a school setting.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
• Must pass Archdiocese Safe Environment Requirements and background screening.
• Good critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong collaboration and commitment to the mission and vision of the organization.
