SummaryUnder the supervision of the Program Director, the Lead Tutor for the Refugee School Impact Program is responsible for providing direct supportive service for refugee children and their families to promote effective integration, education and successful transition to the public school systems. Will be involved in operating the tutoring program, during the day at local school campuses, after school at nearby community spaces, and the New Arrivals Summer Program, and will serve newly arrived refugee children.
PositionResponsibilities
- Works on multiple school campuses to tutor refugee school‑aged children and at the after school tutoring program, in groups and one‑on‑one, to support youth academically.
- Design and lead enrichment activities with students, act as a mentor for youth and encourage student participation throughout the school year and in the summer tutoring program.
- Assist with providing direct client supportive services & academic support, with referrals for refugee students.
- Able to input & retrieve data on a regular basis, using databases and Excel spreadsheets.
- Transports clients when necessary in an agency vehicle to and from the tutoring program.
- Participates in the daily maintenance and care of the donated classroom space.
- Assist when needed to register and enroll eligible students into the program, using interpretation services.
- Conduct home visits on an as‑needed basis, to reach out to families to eliminate all barriers.
- Able to assist in regular maintenance of client case files.
- Lead/teach leveled classes in the summer to newly arrived refugee youth in a newcomer summer program.
- Report on activities, visits, and special client concerns to the Program Director and other staff.
- Able to pick up, sort supplies/donations in the office, and deliver donations to clients.
- Assist when needed, to present cultural orientations for parents of school‑aged children.
- Flexibility of work schedule, may be asked to work some weekends and evenings, for client engagement, fundraising and training activities. Much notice will be given.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, monitoring many student’s behavior and activities at once.
- Must complete all required professional development assigned in a timely manner.
- Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
- Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well‑being of self, others.
- Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
- Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral is mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social service or business‑related field.
- OR Experience
- Minimum of (1) years working in a social service environment that demonstrates a sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural populations is preferred.
- License and Credentials
- Must have clean driving record
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver license
- Valid vehicle insurance
- Ability to operate an agency 12 passenger van on an as needed basis for program activities and events.
- Must be 21 years of age and adhere to the CCAOSA policy, which will not allow anyone under the age of 21 to operate an agency vehicle.
