K-5th Special Education RISE Teacher Applicant Pool – IDEA San Antonio Region (26-27)
IDEA Public Schools is inviting applications for a K‑5th Special Education RISE Teacher. This posting is for a future opportunity within our RISE program and is not tied to an immediately open position. Applicants who meet the qualifications can be considered for available roles as they arise.
Role MissionRISE stands for Reaching Independence through Support and Education
. RISE teachers deliver high‑achievement instruction to students with a range of learning, cognitive, emotional, and physical disabilities, ensuring they reach their fullest potential. They teach core subjects and provide support and resources to families for long‑term planning.
IDEA provides a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. Eligible positions include:
Compensation- Starting teacher salary for 0 years of experience: $59,500
- Stipends based on certifications, credentials & campus leadership – $500 to $4,000 each
- Additional hourly compensation for after‑school tutoring or Saturday school
- Performance‑based incentives (details on our compensation page)
- Paid Family Leave – up to 8 weeks for birth or adoption, based on tenure
- Tuition Reimbursement – up to 50 % of qualifying programs (max $5,250/year)
- Employer‑Paid Mental/Behavioral Health – 5 face‑to‑face sessions, unlimited 24/7 telephonic counseling, and additional services at no cost

- Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four‑year institution - Experience:
Classroom experience with students who have significant disabilities - Licenses/Certifications:
Valid Texas state certification in Special Education and required core content areas
- Curriculum and instruction expertise
- Managing student behavior and instructional delivery
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Adaptability to diverse classroom situations
- Facilitating IEP, Admission, Review and Dismissal meetings
- Family engagement and communication
- Track record of improving outcomes for academically at‑risk students
- Adapt lessons to meet individual student needs
- Coordinate related services for students on caseload
- Develop, implement, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Assess and track student performance, adjusting instruction accordingly Values & Characteristics
