Job Description

Trinity University seeks applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP) in the Department of Religion beginning in August 2026. The VAP will teach undergraduate courses RELI 2371:
Introducing Islam:
From Mecca to Malala, and RELI 3446:
The Qur’an, alongside upper division courses in areas of interest coordinated with curricular needs. Participation in the First Year Experience is encouraged.

Background

Trinity University is a secular, independent, private institution founded in 1869. Duties

and Responsibilities

Effective teaching in lower and upper division courses. Teaching load is the equivalent of three courses per semester.

Appointment Details

This position will be a 9‑month appointment (9 or 12‑month disbursement) starting August 2026, and will be non‑renewable.

Qualifications
  • Education: PhD or ABD in Religious Studies or related discipline.
  • Preferred Experience: Previous teaching experience.
