SummaryThe Teacher is responsible for curriculum development which facilitates instruction appropriate for students with a variety of academic competencies, backgrounds, skills and learning needs. This position must design and implement daily instruction of all core subject areas to include Reading, Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, Art, ESL, and PE. The Teacher is to promote a positive climate of learning and excellence where students have the opportunity to enhance their personal growth.
This position is supervised by the Assistant Program Director.
- Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment of respect and rapport to ensure a positive learning experience for youth with diverse backgrounds
- Organize and prepare materials for daily instruction while ensuring the inventory of classroom materials, may include: textbooks, furniture, and other equipment needed to assist in the provision of instruction
- Utilize the adopted curriculum to ensure compliance with National Academic Standards
- Individualize lesson plans to meet each student’s academic level
- Develop Individualized Educational Plans to report and document student’s developmental progress (cognitive, emotional, social and physical)
- Use effective instructional strategies and behavioral management techniques to meet the academic needs of the students
- Deliver client services and all daily interactions within the Sanctuary Model framework
- Maintain a record of student’s academic progress (grade book) for the development of progress reports
- Meet departmental and program deadlines to ensure contractual compliance with reporting requirements
- Actively participate in the enhancement and/or improvement of the Emergency Care Program living and working environment in cooperation with the Program Director
- Attend administrative staff meetings, staff retreats, and other team building activities
- Demonstrate knowledge and sensitivity of cultural norms, values and heritage
- Create education notes for each resident enrolled in school
- Complete the IEP assessment and post assessment
- Complete Outcomes/Measurements
- Assist with the Student Tracker and School Census
- Upload education documents to UC Portal
- Assist with ratio as needed
- Complete daily attendance
- Must complete all required professional development assigned in a timely manner
- Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
- Adhere to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and take precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well‑being of self and others
- Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization, including client names and information, services rendered, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory
- Every employee is required to take a solution‑oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization
- As a Seton Home employee, attendance and successful completion of a 10‑day New Employee Orientation is mandated for the position. The inability to meet this requirement will conclude employment with the Agency
