Senior Training Analyst

City of San Antonio

Under general direction, performs analytical work related to training programs for skilled, technical, and professional development. Gathers research and data, analyzes data, develops and plans solutions, and conducts training to achieve goals and objectives. May exercise technical or functional supervision over assigned staff.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM

Essential Job Functions
  • Develops and reviews educational and professional development training curriculum.
  • Prepares and conducts training classes.
  • Develops, reviews, and updates training manuals, materials, and lesson plans.
  • Researches, reviews, and updates training visual aids.
  • Manages and analyzes surveys for program development.
  • Works with other departments to develop in‑house training.
  • Maintains training records and participant files.
  • Travels to different locations to participate in training program initiatives and conducts training sessions.
  • Coordinates and participates with local entities, higher education, and private institutions.
  • Prepares and monitors the division budget.
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years of increasing responsible experience as a trainer or instructor.
  • Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating effective in‑person and virtual trainings.
  • Experience in developing and managing effective training/professional development programs using a variety of teaching methods, adult learning theories, instructional materials and resources.
  • Certified Professional Trainer (CPT), Certified Learning and Development Professional (CLDP), or similar certification(s).
Applicant Information
  • Applicants may substitute two years of related full‑time experience for one year of higher education, or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements. One year of full‑time experience is defined as 30 or more hours per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
  • Applicants selected for employment with the City of San Antonio must receive satisfactory results from pre‑employment drug testing and background checks. If required, a physical, motor‑vehicle record evaluation, and additional background checks may also be conducted.
  • Applicants who claim military service to meet the experience requirement may attach a DD214 to the application.
  • If selected, official transcripts, diplomas, certifications, and licenses must be submitted at the time of processing. Unofficial transcripts and copies of other relevant documents may be attached to the application for consideration in advance.

  • Knowledge of instructional and teaching methods, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of program research and development techniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge of training program assessment instruments.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training and personnel management.
  • Knowledge of administrative and management practices.
  • Knowledge of research techniques, methods, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of presentation requirements and methods.
  • Knowledge of public administration practices and local government issues.
  • Skill in utilizing a personal computer and associated software programs.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other basic office equipment.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals.
  • Ability to design and prepare visual training ideas.
  • Ability to conduct classroom training programs.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co‑workers, supervisors, training participants and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
