Position SummarySt. Anthony Catholic High School, a private, college preparatory High school for young men and women, is seeking a part-time Japanese Teacher. All teachers are expected to teach within the mission of St. Anthony Catholic High School and our Core Values of Honesty & Integrity;

Scholarship; and Holistic Education. The Japanese Teacher reports to the School Principal. St. Anthony Catholic High School prepares young men and women for positions of responsibility and leadership through a college preparatory curriculum based on Catholic values and traditions.
This position is not benefits eligible.
Job Duties- Develop and implement lesson plans for up to four classes at both the upper and lower levels that fulfill the requirements of the curriculum;
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles;
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by TEA , board policies and administrative regulations;
- Work cooperatively with administrators, department chairs, and other staff as needed to meet curriculum objectives;
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits;
- Serve as an advisor to 15-17 students;
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing;
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and Student handbook;
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities;
- Assist in selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials;
- Establish and maintain open communication through conferences with parents, students, principal and teachers;
- Compile, maintain and file all physical and computerized reports, records and other documents;
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees;
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills;
- Attend after school faculty meetings, evening parent meetings, weekly liturgies, class retreats and open houses as requested;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced understanding of key principles of teaching, learning and assessment;
- Ability to plan and deliver detailed and well thought out lessons with an understanding of learners’ needs, utilizing an extensive range of teaching techniques;
- Ability to create assessments that accurately measure students’ learning;
- Successful completion of VIRTUS and background check;
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. - Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
Bachelor’s Degree in Foreign Languages or 18 credit hours in Japanese or related field.
Required Work ExperienceExperience working with high school age students.
Preferred QualificationsTwo (2) years experience teaching high school Japanese or equivalent.
Required Certifications, Licenses or RegistrationsThe Archdiocese of San Antonio requires non-certified teachers to have 12 hours of education. Faculty hired without the 12 hours are placed on a deficiency plan and must obtain the 12 hours within two (2) years. Texas certification must be completed within two (2) years.
