Overview
Lead Printed Wiring Board PWB Design role at Southwest Research Institute within the Strategic Aerospace Department of the Defense & Intelligence Solutions Division. This position provides engineering services that increase warfighter capabilities, specifically for bomber, tanker, and heavy platforms. We offer world-class research, design, services, and support, delivering both new products and solutions to legacy issues for the USAF Global Strike Command, DoD industry, allies, and the U.S. Government.
This position has an alternate work location in Austin, TX.
- Lead designers in the development of PWB designs for avionics systems. Participate in proposals and customer meetings.
- Work in a team environment as well as independently to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Development of Printed Circuit Boards PCBs and library component generation.
- Support integrated product team design reviews of drawings and other relevant technical data in support of avionics designs.
- Collaborate directly with electrical and mechanical engineers to develop PCBs and interconnect systems for MIL-SPEC avionics flight electronic hardware.
- Position may require additional hours to meet project schedules.
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Aeronautics Technology or a related field, or an Associate degree with continued education, certifications, and 25 years related experience.
- 10+ years:
With a Bachelor's degree, 10-15 years of experience in printed wiring board design. - 25 years:
Without a Bachelor's degree, 25 years of advanced working knowledge of Mentor Graphics PADS Professional and/or Xpedition with PWB design. - Interconnect principles and practices for designing low-level and complex PWB designs is desirable.
- Basic understanding of configuration management and electronic development methods; knowledge of Signal Integrity and mechanical aptitude; familiarity with IPC standards, Digital, Mixed Signal, and RF electronics PWB designs.
- Valid/clear driver's license required.
