FPGA Design Engineer

Overview

Nightwing is seeking an FPGA Design Engineer to join the team for a temporary 5-month position from January through May 2026, working at least 20 hours per week. Dates, duration, and hours per week are negotiable.

• Support the architecture and design of FPGA-based security modules for computing systems
• Digital design (VHDL) for FPGA/SoC implementations
• Embedded software design (C/C++) for soft-core processors in FPGAs and/or ARM-based processors in Xilinx or Microsemi So Cs
• Develop test benches for VHDL designs
• Assist with hardware integration and test
• Assist with developing software utilities to interface with FPGA designs

• U.S. citizenship
• Enrolled in Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related STEM major
• Experience with digital design and VHDL or Verilog coding
• Proficient in C/C++
• Experience (internship or extensive classroom experience) with Xilinx, Altera or Microsemi/Microchip FPGAs
• Experience (internship or extensive classroom experience) with Xilinx Vivado or Microsemi Libero software tools
• Familiar with aspects of secure boot
• Familiar with cryptographic algorithms
• Familiar with RTOSs
