About the RoleThe Marine Structures & Engineering Section provides engineering R&D services for commercial and government clients. We design, analyze, fabricate, and commission pressure vessels for land-based, subsea, manned, and unmanned applications.
Responsibilities- Lead a multidisciplinary team in designing and fabricating large pressure vessels for subsea or surface applications.
- Ensure quality, functionality, performance, and certifiability of final products.
- Approve technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and fabrication plans.
- Ensure fabrication processes meet project requirements with expert input.
- Assist in business development through technical presentations, client visits, and project proposals.
- Collaborate with project managers and teams to plan and execute objectives.
- Contribute to design efforts for structures, mechanisms, and pressure chambers.
- Conduct design reviews, provide feedback, and ensure components meet criteria.
- Communicate project status and prioritize activities.
- Maintain quality standards and documentation.
- Manage changes effectively and communicate updates to staff and management.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Marine, Naval Architecture, or Ocean Engineering.
- 15+ years in marine/sub-surface structural design, analysis, and fabrication, with knowledge of relevant standards (P-9290, Tech Pub 1688, ASME BPVC/PVHO).
- 5+ years of leadership and supervisory experience.
- Experience with finite element analysis under complex pressure scenarios; mechanism design is a plus.
- Proficiency in fabrication and inspection of high-strength steels, alloys, and non-metals for marine use.
- P.E. license preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Candidate must undergo a government security clearance process and be a U.S. citizen. The position is based in San Antonio, Texas.
