Position: Mechanical Engineering 2

The Engineering & Science Division (ESD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide guidance and expertise in mechanical engineering to design complex mechanical equipment and systems, and to investigate, evaluate, and develop new applications for existing equipment and systems.

Location:

San Antonio, TX.

Responsibilities:

Mechanical and electrical prototype conceptualization, design, fabrication, and testing.

Field testing, laboratory testing, troubleshooting.

Determine theoretical principles involved and apply advanced analytical and investigative methods and techniques.

Evaluate operational systems and design modifications to eliminate malfunctions or adapt to new requirements. Develop original applications and complex test procedures for significantly different equipment and systems.

Review and correct drawings to ensure proper engineering techniques and specifications are met.

Develop, release, and maintain documentation according to company and contractual standards.

Review, write, and edit reports such as evaluation plans, test results, and technical manuals, providing recommendations and conclusions.

Required Experience &

Skills:

Interest in solving challenging problems, entrepreneurial spirit, and intrinsic motivation.
Experience and desire to work on all aspects of prototyping, testing, and R&D projects from start to finish.
Experience with wearables, non-Newtonian fluids, data acquisition systems, robotics, military working dogs, programming, modeling and simulation, unmanned underwater and aerial vehicles.
Experience in data collection, management, analysis, and visualization.
Experience in writing progress reports, test plans, test reports, and technical presentations for clients.
Personal technical interests and hobbies.

Required Qualifications:

US Citizenship
Secret Security Clearance
Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 5-7 years of experience or Master's degree with 3-5 years of experience.
