Engineered Air Balance is looking for a Construction Document Specialist I to join our dynamic team in San Antonio. Our ideal candidate will be reliable, tech‑savvy, and have a high mechanical aptitude. If you have experience as a Project Engineer, Construction Data Specialist, or Document Control Specialist, you might be a good fit.

The Position

Construction Document Specialist I in our San Antonio, Texas office responsible for preparing field takeoffs before project startup using Bluebeam PDF editing software, gathering design data from plans and submittals, populating field equipment data forms, and compiling reports from field technicians. The role requires a high mechanical aptitude, analytical skills, and attention to detail. Exceptional on‑the‑job training will be provided.

Job Responsibilities
  • Obtain all necessary project documentation such as plans, specs, and submittals to prepare takeoffs.
  • Evaluate plans and submittals to identify deficiencies and determine relevant design data for field technicians.
  • Prepare mechanical drawings for field technician use.
  • Organize and manage project documents.
  • Populate field forms.
  • Assist field project leaders and managers with developing conditions of operation and other technical writing tasks.
  • Follow a schedule of work that ensures project field data is completed timely and final reports are processed without delay.
Required Qualifications
  • Up to 2 years of related skill, knowledge, or experience, OR an associate’s degree or technical certification in a related field.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Autodesk, Plan Grid Construction, Procore, and/or Fieldwire.
  • Experience with HVAC drafting, submittals, understanding blueprints, and related responsibilities.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude required.
  • Construction industry experience preferred.
Required Skills
  • Strong computer competency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Exhibits strengths in spelling, grammar, document structure, and detail.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of an organization.
  • Highly organized and detail‑oriented with the ability to work with a high volume of documents in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Team player who can handle frustrations encountered while completing multiple tasks or in conflict‑laden situations while maintaining quality and consistency.

Previous experience with Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM
360, Plan Grid, Procore software, and a general understanding of construction plans, specs, or submittals is a plus!
