Baker Engineering and Risk Consultants, Inc. (Baker Risk®) is one of the world’s leading explosion analysis, structural design, and risk management companies. Baker Risk provides comprehensive consulting, engineering, laboratory, and full-scale facility testing services to government agencies and private companies who are involved with hazardous operations or materials.

Dates Of Employment
Spring/Summer Term:
Monday, January 5th at 9:00 a.m. CST – Friday, August 14th at noon
Summer/Fall Term:
Monday, May 18th at 9:00 a.m. CST – Friday, December 18th at noon

Full time: 40 hours per week

Location: San Antonio, TX – Primarily at Box Canyon Test Facility in Bracketville

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Support field and lab testing projects focused on explosions and related phenomena.
  • Assist engineers by applying standard methods to evaluate explosion related phenomena and predict blast and fragment loads.
  • Perform routine engineering calculations, conduct research, and prepare presentations and reports.
  • Expected to be able to solve problems using procedures and criteria assigned by technical staff and establish priorities for completion of assigned workload.
Requirements

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a minimal 3.0 GPA in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Rising Junior or Senior level student. Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Ability to learn engineering software as needed to perform assigned tasks. Excellent oral and written communication skills required to interact with internal and external contacts. Previous hands‑on experience with field or lab‑scale testing preferred.
