Project Engineer – COPT Defense Properties
Create and oversee technical support for property assets. Ensure compliance with USG and tenant security standards. Maintain clear communication with tenants, vendors, contractors, and internal personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Lead projects and provide work direction to technical staff for special requests and projects.
- Direct technicians and subcontractors for maintenance or repair services to meet quality parameters.
- Maintain job safety standards in accordance with company policy and government regulations.
- Read trade related electrical, mechanical, and plumbing drawings and internal wiring schematics.
- Work on sensitive compartmented information facility construction standards that comply with ICD 705 requirements.
- Maintain contract files with required documentation to support audits.
- Set energy baseline and measure energy and cost savings; research and install energy saving devices.
- Participate in energy dashboard reporting and conduct energy audits.
- Oversee recommissioning of BAS systems and BAS training platform.
- Control expenditures for services and supplies within established budget guidelines; recommend operating and capital expenditures to property management team.
- Maintain appropriate paperwork for billing purposes.
- Notify management of issues, maintain tools and supplies, and perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent with vocational coursework in HVAC, electricity, plumbing, or related areas.
- Universal CFC certification;
State Certified Journeyman’s or Stationary Engineer license;
State Certified Master’s license preferred. - Minimum 15 years relevant experience as a senior service technician or project engineer with 5–10 years directing others.
- PC proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn company‑specific software.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to work on‑call, evenings, weekends, holidays, and 24‑hour on‑call response for emergencies.
- Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, mechanical, electrical) and energy management systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication, customer service focus, organization and time management.
Pay range: $70,000 – $140,000.
