The Associate Field Service Engineer for Leica Biosystems is responsible for supporting customers through the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Leica Biosystems diagnostic solutions. This role contributes to customer success by helping ensure optimal instrument performance, maximizing uptime, and supporting reliable diagnostic workflows that ultimately impact patient care. This position is part of the Service Organization and will work remotely within the assigned territory.
You will be a part of the Field Service Team and report to the Regional Field Service Manager responsible for delivering industry‑leading service that maximizes instrument availability, customer productivity, and operational performance.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Support installation, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on Leica Biosystems instruments to help ensure optimal instrument performance and customer uptime.
- Assist in delivering a high‑quality customer experience through effective communication, timely follow‑up, and adherence to Leica Biosystems quality and compliance standards.
- Partner with Field Service Engineers, technical support, applications, and commercial teams to resolve technical issues and support reliable diagnostic workflows.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- 0-1 years of experience in a technical field;
Associates Degree preferred. - Foundational mechanical, electrical, electronic, laboratory, biomedical, or instrumentation troubleshooting capability.
- Ability to communicate clearly with customers and internal teams while learning to operate independently in a field‑based service environment.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
- This position requires up to 90% flying and/or driving travel, which includes overnight stays.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to regularly lift, move, slide, raise and/or place up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Ability to stand, walk (prolonged), and sit; squat and kneel, ascend and descend stairs; reach with hands and arms.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Experience working with medical devices, laboratory equipment, scientific instruments, or other electromechanical systems.
