The real estate team, integral to the organization, has seen significant recent changes with doubled deployment size and deal volume, offering dynamic opportunities in a young but growing family office environment.
The Senior Associate, Real Estate Investments will be a key member of the real estate investment team. The primary responsibility will be to support the acquisition and investment function, including financial analysis and modeling, market research and analysis, due diligence, preparation and presentation of investment materials (such as slide decks), maintaining and growing the investment pipeline, monitoring investment performance and progress, and reporting.
Secondary responsibilities include support for asset management and dispositions as needed, along with special projects. The role requires effective communication internally and externally with partners, investment sponsors, sellers, and brokers. Investments span industrial, multi‑family, office, retail, hospitality, and triple‑net leased properties; joint‑venture investments; and real estate fund investments. The position involves evaluating and underwriting partner‑sourced deals, with post‑investment involvement to maintain accountability for business plan execution and offers strong professional development through diverse deal and asset types.
The role is full‑time in the office in San Antonio.
Responsibilities- Support the Director of Acquisition and Investment, focusing on investment opportunity evaluation as well as portfolio growth and optimization.
- Maintain in‑depth knowledge of existing investments and their performance.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and monthly reports.
- Oversee and strengthen existing Sponsor/Partner relationships, while identifying and securing new strategic sponsors aligned with organizational goals.
- Provide support and modeling in connection with real estate investment strategy and portfolio monitoring and reporting.
- Prepare high‑caliber slide decks and investment committee materials to enable the executive team to review investment opportunities and quarterly reports.
- Conduct efficient and relevant market research and analysis that will be included in presentations to support real estate transactions.
- Assemble presentation‑quality investment‑related books and binders.
- Attend sales and reference calls and maintain the inventory and sales pipeline database and reports.
- Review monthly reports from partners, property managers, and internal team members, including operational issues, and prepare internal reports regarding operations where needed.
- Maintain a deep understanding of real estate markets and make strategy recommendations.
- Work with team to stay aligned with internal processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
- 5 – 10 years of commercial real estate experience.
- Strong analytic skills to evaluate potential investments as well as the performance of the existing portfolio (IRR, MOIC, YOC, etc.).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint). Experience with Argus, CoStar, Green Street, SharePoint, Smartsheet, MRI a plus.
- Ability to communicate and present effectively, both orally and in writing, to internal executives and external partners.
- Intellectual curiosity, strategic thinking capacity, and analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and multi‑task.
