About the Role

Councilwoman Dr. Sukh Kaur is seeking a highly professional, strategic, and solutions-oriented Chief of Staff to lead her City Council office. This is a unique opportunity to shape public policy, manage a high-performing team, and serve the residents of District 1 and the broader San Antonio community with integrity and excellence.

The Chief of Staff will serve as the Councilwoman’s principal advisor and operational leader, ensuring the office functions at the highest level of professionalism, responsiveness, and impact.

Key Responsibilities Executive Support & Strategic Anticipation

• Serve as the Councilwoman’s primary advisor—recognizing needs, preparing materials, and managing priorities.
• Coordinate the Councilwoman’s schedule, communications, and engagements to maximize impact in partnership with the team.
• Provide strategic counsel and ensure the Councilwoman is fully briefed and prepared for meetings, media, and public events.

Team Leadership & Office Management

• Supervise and mentor staff and interns to foster a collaborative, mission-driven culture.
• Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth workflows and high-quality constituent service.
• Monitor office projects and initiatives to ensure timely completion and alignment with strategic goals.
• Manage internal communications and cross-functional coordination with city departments and external partners.

Policy Development & Legislative Strategy

• Lead policy research and legislative tracking aligned with the Councilwoman’s priorities.
• Draft memos, talking points, and briefing materials for council meetings and public appearances.
• Build coalitions with other council offices, advocacy groups, and city agencies to advance initiatives.

Community Engagement, Communications & Constituent Services

• Oversee all external communications, including social media, newsletters, and e-blasts, to ensure consistent messaging and community engagement.
• Support the Councilwoman’s outreach to neighborhood associations, community leaders, and residents.
• Plan and execute public events, town halls, and engagement campaigns.
• Monitor constituent feedback and ensure responsive and equitable service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required;
  Master’s preferred
• 5 years of experience in government, public policy, or executive-level support.
• Proven leadership and team management experience.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Deep understanding of San Antonio’s municipal government and community dynamics.
