Essential Tasks

• Retrieve authorizations from all assigned payors for services provided.
• Review authorizations to ensure proper coding (including modifiers) and coverage.
• Collaborate with Service Advisors and Billing Department on account updates and authorization activity.
• Assist with denials by obtaining clinical information, ICD-10 coding, or other details to correct errors.
• Maintain charts, records, and databases of patient authorizations.
• Communicate delays or issues to the Authorization Lead promptly.
• Stay informed on authorization requirements for all payors and regulatory guidelines.

Experience & Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of billing and/or accounts receivable experience.
• Strong knowledge of payer guidelines related to claim submission.
• Familiarity with payer websites and billing resources.
• Basic medical coding/terminology and insurance practices.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and ability to learn agency-specific software.
• Typing speed: 35 wpm with 80% accuracy;
  Excel accuracy: 80%.
