Salary Range: $25.00 - $25.00 Hourly
Summary: Provides advanced life support and basic life support emergency medical care, patient assessment and care, transport services, and other services by performing the following duties. In addition, performs all of the duties of and must meet the qualifications of an Emergency Medical Technician/Driver.
Qualifications- Must be an Emergency Medical Technician‑Paramedic.
- No criminal record resulting in a verdict other than non‑guilty in any criminal proceeding.
- After initial company orientation and training, must complete a minimum of ten (10) evaluated ALS calls with a current paramedic/medic driver, and at least three of these with an ALS‑certified administrator or field training officer (or verified experience as an ALS provider from another jurisdiction).
- Must maintain valid, current State Emergency Medical Technician certification, Paramedic or Intermediate certification, BCLS and ACLS certifications, and a current State Driver’s License.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Occasional need to use a sense of smell.
- Must be able to lift, transfer and maneuver patients weighing up to 250 pounds, often in environments with narrow pathways and obstacles.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Provide advanced life support treatment of patients.
- Operate ambulances and other company vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Provide basic life support treatment and transportation of sick and injured persons.
- Administer emergency medical treatment within the employee’s skill, training, and certification.
- Comply fully with all applicable state, local, and federal regulations and laws.
- Observe patients, record significant conditions and treatments rendered, and take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs.
- Prepare inventories, stock supplies, inspect equipment, and maintain cleanliness of ambulances (interior and exterior) and other company vehicles, equipment, office, lounge, and bathrooms.
- Safely lift, transfer, and maneuver patients in and out of ambulances, facilities, residences, and other locations.
- Communicate effectively with patients, family members, medical personnel, and the general public verbally and in writing.
- Maintain punctual attendance for scheduled shifts, proper uniform, and personal hygiene.
- Maintain a clean, complete uniform and a professional, pleasant, and polite demeanor while on duty.
- Be available to work up to 60 minutes before scheduled shift start time and may be dispatched an additional transport if still on the clock.
- Complete and maintain accurate records and documentation for transport, equipment inspection, supply usage, incidents, and other inherent documentation.
- Promote the company, perform public relations, standby coverage at special events, and deliver medical equipment and supplies when assigned.
- Attend company meetings and educational sessions whenever possible.
- Inspect and promptly report damage, deficiencies, safety issues, or other problems with vehicles, equipment, and supplies immediately to Administration.
- Immediately report to Administration any changes in driving record status, certification status, health status, or other information that could affect ability to perform duties.
- Immediately report any violations of personnel policies or procedures.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all information pertaining to company policies, pricing, contract terms, trade secrets, competitive information, strategic information, patient data, forms, manuals, charts, employee data, or any other sensitive information, both during and beyond employment.
- Report to Operations Management and Administration; perform other duties as assigned.
The role requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands to handle or feel objects, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and talking or hearing. The employee must lift, transfer, and maneuver clients or equipment weighing up to 250 pounds, often in environments with narrow pathways and obstacles, while ensuring safety and time efficiency. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
WorkEnvironment
The employee frequently works outdoors under various weather conditions and occasionally near moving mechanical parts. The noise level is usually moderate.
