POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides assessments, counseling, education and referrals to patients with substance use. Promotes rapport between patient and their families. Assists patients in identifying psychological, personal, and environmental challenges related to substance use in order to achieve maximum therapeutic and functional capacity. Acts as a member of multidisciplinary mental health teams.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE
Hospital-based:
High school diploma or G.E.D. required and one-year experience preferred. Additional educational and supervised clinical experience as required for LCDC licensure. Ambulatory-based:
Master’s Degree in Counseling and two years of experience providing substance use treatment required.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Licensed as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) by the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. Licensure must be current at all times.
