IT Technician - Senior IT Technician - AV/Telecommunications
The Network, Telecommunications and AV team supports all aspects of Southwest Research Institute's Enterprise network and telecommunications infrastructure, including core routing, switching, VoIP, wireless infrastructure, inside/outside plant, network performance monitoring and hybrid meeting services.
Primary Responsibilities- Design and procure AV and conferencing technologies for meeting rooms, auditoriums, training rooms and huddle spaces.
- Manage AV installation projects coordinating network, AV, telecommunication, facilities, and IT support components.
- Install and repair copper/fiber infrastructure and physical components of audio‑visual equipment.
- Support staff with videoconferencing and multimedia presentation needs.
- Schedule events and make technical and logistical arrangements for videoconferencing and meeting rooms.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Institute AV equipment.
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot existing AV technologies and hardware; repair as needed.
- Collaborate with other IT disciplines to deliver AV/telecom services and meet enterprise requirements.
- Recommend, purchase, configure, and install equipment for new requirements and to keep capabilities current.
- Create and maintain documentation and inventory of systems and equipment.
- Set up, coordinate and facilitate events and meetings with AV requirements.
- Occasional weekend or after‑hours work.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Extron AV Associate and/or Extron Control Professional certifications (plus).
- 3 years of installation, operation and maintenance of audio‑visual and multimedia technologies.
- 3 years of termination of copper network/AV cabling.
- 2 years of designing and recommending upgrades for existing meeting technology solutions.
- Experience with Microsoft Office scheduling, presentation, meeting and diagramming software (Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Visio) is highly recommended.
- Basic PC troubleshooting skills or desktop support experience is a plus.
- Valid/clear driver's license.
