IT Network Administrator

Join the Archdiocese of San Antonio Careers to apply for the IT Network Administrator role.

Reports To: IT Manager
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm (Weekends and evenings as needed)
FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary: The IT Network Administrator will monitor, maintain, and improve the IT Network infrastructure, ensuring security through policy implementation and auditing. Responsibilities include equipment implementation, updates, and user training on network security.

Position Responsibilities
  • Provide hands‑on troubleshooting support to end users for network issues.
  • Administer, monitor, and support routers, switches, access points, firewalls, and VPNs for the Pastoral Ministry Center and its external agencies.
  • Perform periodic network audits, analyze results, and implement changes to enhance security and performance.
  • Configure cloud networking with solutions such as Microsoft Azure.
  • Create backup configurations for all network devices.
  • Administer and monitor the email filtering system for the Pastoral Ministry Center and external agencies.
  • Monitor organizational network elements (Office 365, firewall, cloud infrastructure) for unauthorized access and respond accordingly.
  • Analyze, research, recommend, and plan changes related to new network implementations and upgrades.
  • Administer Security Awareness Training.
  • Make recommendations based on changing network security postures and threats.
  • Oversee third‑party connections, working directly with vendors and MSPs.
  • Assist in developing network/IT security policies and procedures, maintaining documentation.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members.
  • Participate in short‑term and long‑term planning, including scheduling, budgeting, and cost/benefit analysis.
  • Manage, monitor, and report KPIs for the antivirus solution.
  • Keep records of all end‑user requests.
  • Support the System Technician with Server OS, VMWare, and Active Directory administration as needed.
  • Administer the phone system and fax.
  • Standardize and document duties, continuously improving processes.
  • Periodically report project status and incidents to management and team members.
  • Adhere to safety training and protocols daily, taking precautionary measures to ensure safety and well‑being.
  • Protect the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in service with the organization.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy.
  • Take a solution‑oriented approach in interactions and be a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions - ADA

Required to perform essential functions and reasonable accommodations may be provided for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Education

Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in computer science preferred.

Experience
  • Minimum 7 years managing, auditing, and supporting LAN, WLAN, and firewalls.
  • Minimum 6 years managing and supporting VPN configuration.
  • Minimum 3 years administrating IP phone system.
License And Credentials
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Valid vehicle insurance.
  • CCNA certification preferred.
Minimum Knowledge And Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of Cisco or similar enterprise network devices.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial wireless access points and firewall configuration.
  • Extensive knowledge of VPN configuration.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
  • Knowledge of configuring email filtering systems.
  • Experience implementing MFA.
  • Knowledge of MS Azure / O365 infrastructure.
  • Detail oriented, organized, self‑motivated, independent and team player.
  • Good written and verbal skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
Travel Requirements

Travel includes 15% local in the San Antonio area.
