IT Network Administrator – Archdiocese of San Antonio
Full‑time position reporting to the IT Manager. The role involves monitoring, maintaining and improving the IT Network infrastructure, ensuring security, and providing support for end users.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm (weekends and evenings as needed).
FLSA Status: Exempt.
The IT Network Administrator will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and improving the IT network infrastructure, capability, and functionality. The position will maintain network security by implementing policies and auditing network devices, handle all network equipment implementation and updates, and develop user training on network security.
Responsibilities- Provide troubleshooting support for network issues to end users.
- Administer, monitor and support Routers, Switches, Access Points, Firewalls and VPN for the Pastoral Ministry Center and external agencies.
- Perform periodic network audits, analyze results, and implement changes to increase security and performance.
- Configure Cloud networking with web‑based solutions (e.g., MS Azure).
- Create backup configurations for all network devices.
- Administer and monitor the email filtering system for the Pastoral Ministry Center and external agencies.
- Monitor organization network including Office 365, Firewalls, and cloud infrastructure for unauthorized access and respond as needed.
- Analyze, research, recommend and plan changes related to new network implementations and upgrades.
- Administer Security Awareness Training.
- Make recommendations based on changing network security postures and threats.
- Oversee 3rd‑party connections and work directly with vendors and MSPs.
- Assist in developing network/IT security policies and procedures and maintain documentation.
- Collaborate with other IT team members.
- Assist in short‑term and long‑term planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost/benefit analysis.
- Manage, monitor and report KPIs for the antivirus solution.
- Keep records of all end‑user requests and support the system technician with Server OS, VMware, and Active Directory administration as needed.
- Administer the phone system and fax.
- Standardize and document duties and pursue continuous improvement.
- Periodically report project status and incidents to the management team.
- Adhere to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and take precautionary measures to ensure safety and well‑being.
- Protect the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization, including client names, donor information, and financial data.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy.
- Maintain a solution‑oriented approach in interactions and promote collaboration and commitment to the mission and vision of the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Essential function – ADA compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years managing, auditing and supporting network infrastructure (LAN, WLAN, firewalls).
- Minimum of 6 years managing VPN configurations.
- Minimum of 3 years administering IP phone systems.
- Reliable transportation.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Valid vehicle insurance.
- CCNA certification preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of Cisco or similar enterprise network devices.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial wireless access points and firewall configuration.
- Extensive knowledge of VPN configuration.
- Knowledge of cyber‑security best practices.
- Knowledge of configuring email filtering systems.
- Experience with MFA implementations.
- Administrative knowledge of MS Azure / Office 365 infrastructure.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, self‑motivated, capable of working independently or in a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
Travel requirements include 15% local in the San Antonio area.
