The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a full time Information Technology (IT) Cybersecurity Specialist, IT Project Manager (GG-2210-13), to work at the 367th Cyberspace Operations Squadron (COS), Joint Mission Operations Center‑Texas, assigned to Joint Base San Antonio – Lackland Air Force Base (AFB), in San Antonio, Texas.

This position is a Cyber Excepted Service (CES) position implemented under Section 1599F, Title 10 United States Code (USC).

Required 3-year probationary period for new Federal government appointments.

CES applies and documents Veterans’ Preference IAW Department of Defense (DoDI) 1400.25, Volume 3005.

Salary ($114,332 – $156,256) based on experience.

Relocation expenses may be paid. Recruitment and Retention incentives may be available based on experience.

Qualifications/Requirements

In this position you will serve as a senior IT specialist providing a wide range of IT services tailored to support critical in‑garrison and deployed command, control, and mission information, processes, and systems, and providing advanced knowledge and skill in the use of IT systems and is considered an advanced IT user.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain & maintain a “Top Secret/SCI” Security clearance.
  • Incumbent is required to undergo counter‑intelligence‑scope polygraph examination.
  • This position requires at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Must obtain & maintain an Information Assurance certification within 6 months of assigned duties.
  • This position is designated as a Drug Test Designated Position.
  • Knowledge of IT systems analysis and applications software concepts, functions, techniques, and capabilities sufficient to evaluate new and emerging IT security methods and principles, the feasibility of proposed new systems and applications software projects; and to design, write, test, debug, and maintain information systems and applications software and ensure successful integration with existing and anticipated infrastructure in the database environment.
  • Knowledge of operational activities (such as special operations, personnel recovery, airlift, etc.), weapon systems, and command, control, and mission process, systems, and applications.
  • Knowledge of IT management information systems and applications software technology to isolate causes of problems between hardware, system, and applications software programs, and to measure system performance and/or extend operating system capabilities to support organizational business processes and operations.
  • Knowledge of IT management information systems requirements and application software development techniques required in carrying out project assignments of considerable difficulty, and with little specificity regarding approach to be followed.
  • Ability to maintain an up‑to‑date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements.
  • Ability to gather facts and use effective analytical and evaluative methods to assess information, plan the sequence of actions necessary, make sound decisions; ability to analyze problems and execute timely and economical processes for improvement and resolution of problems.
