** Summary
* * Under minimal supervision, performs highly responsible work in coordinating and carrying out responsibilities involving assigned causes of action while maintaining poise, confidentiality, organization and efficiency in a fast-paced, demanding working environment. Deputy Court Clerk performs the more difficult aspects of the duties outlined for the Deputy Court Clerk position at a level requiring less direct supervision. Responsible for providing all County Courts-at-Law for criminal misdemeanors, Auxiliary Jail Court, and all specialty courts with case files and documents;
makes independent decisions, maintains dockets; prepares correspondence; prepares official documents; coordinates court appearances for cases with an out of county bond; administers oaths; receives Notices of Appeals to be submitted to the 4th Court of Appeals, performs data entry; assists the public and acts as a liaison between the departments, courts, other agencies and public; maintains files; makes certified copies;
and performs related duties as required.

* Duties and Responsibilities:
*** Serves as contact liaison on a daily basis between the County Court at Law Judge, County Court at Law staff, District Attorney’s Office and other county departments and agencies for court documents filed in the County Clerk’s Office, information and case status in criminal division docket related matters.
* Responsible for preparing, filing, arranging and maintaining all case files that have been assigned to a specific court and judge and may be required to substitute and assist in other courts with minimal guidance as needed.
* Responsible for receiving and filing all court documents; receiving all exhibits at the conclusion of the proceeding; issuing all process; and performing all other duties imposed on the County Clerk’s Office by law.
* Maintains hearing, jury and non-jury trial daily dockets both in person and virtual for criminal statutory county courts and any associated specialty courts; and assists the judge in the jury selection process and maintains jury records, records excuses, and jury strikes.
* Files cases in accordance with the statewide eFiling Rules for Criminal Cases as adopted by the Supreme Court of Texas and records case activity in the County’s Case Management System.
* Reviews all orders signed by the Judge to determine what further action, if any, is required by the County Clerk’s Office and completes said action.
* Ensure proper notification of statute-mandated court documents regarding cases to internal and external departments with the highest level of confidentiality and promptness.
* Facilitates prompt and precise correspondence with Bexar County Jail regarding cases when a bond amount or type of bond has changed, outcome of a court proceeding, and/or a dismissal of a case;
Effectively ensuring the timely release of an inmate daily and with high importance; Follows procedures to ensure that defendants are released from jail in a timely manner and that case information and dispositions are accurately updated.
* Processes and maintains correspondence with Pre-Trial Services and the Court regarding reports and updates on cases by determining the importance and prioritizing proper tracking.
* Responsible for updating the County’s Case Management System on a daily basis when court documents (probation conditions, probation terminations, extensions, etc.) are received from Adult Probation and coordinating the removal of devises with the Department of Public Safety, if required.
