Warehouse Assistant Manager

Overview

The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for overseeing the 1st and 2nd shift day to day operations.

• Ensures World Class service in daily interaction with all levels of personnel within the company, customers and suppliers.
• Ensures all work is performed to company approved procedures, standards and specifications.
• Works closely with Warehouse Manager and team to ensure that quality and productivity requirements are maintained and communicated to each team member.
• Ensures the team is managed and trained.
• Promotes safety and maintains the awareness of a safe work environment.
• Handles all relevant employee timekeeping record requirements, vacation scheduling, performance appraisals and disciplinary actions.
• Keeps immediate manager fully informed of all matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternatives.
• Performs all necessary management functions to effectively and efficiently manage the personnel assigned. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, performance management and firing of warehouse personnel.
• Communicates areas of accountability and performance expected of personnel assigned.
• Creates and maintains a positive working environment to promote employee morale and productivity.
• Maintains inventory control.
• Ensures pulling orders with 100% accuracy and packages safely to load on trucks.
• Ensures the loading and unloading of trucks daily.
• Receives and checks the accuracy of inventory received from vendors.
• Ensures housekeeping and cleanliness of all work areas. Ensures dock areas, outside dock areas, break areas, bathrooms are organized, clean, free of debris, and in good working condition.
• Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

This position helps supervise under the management of the Warehouse Manager all warehouse employees.

• High School Diploma / GED Equivalent.
• A four-year degree from an accredited college, preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a frozen and refrigerated warehouse or distribution center.
• Knowledge of shelf dates / rotations on items.
• Strong work ethic and professionalism.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong focus on quality and ability to master productivity.
• Ability to effectively interact with hourly team members, management, and executive team.
• Demonstrates Can Do approach in responding to customers request as well as other team members across organization. Acts with a sense of urgency and can meet deadlines.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings and / or weekends to meet business demands.
• Must be computer proficient.
• English and bilingual in Spanish preferred.
