Director of Emergency Services – Freestanding Emergency Departments (FSED)
Location: San Antonio, TX
Pay: Up to $130,000 + Incentive Bonus (17.5%–26.25%)
Sign-On Bonus: Case by case
Relocation Assistance: $15,000
Schedule: Full-Time, Days, No Weekends
Facilities: 2 FSEDs, 5–6 miles apart
Staff: 12 FTEs at Alamo Heights location
Reporting to: Division VP of Emergency Services
Position SummaryThe Director of Free-Standing Emergency Services is responsible for overall service, growth, development, personnel management, and efficient resource allocation across two FSED locations. This leader oversees departmental operations ensuring consistent, high-quality patient care and directs supporting ancillary departments such as Imaging, Lab, Admitting, Security, Environmental Services, and Support Services.
Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify real and potential issues impacting service; implement and communicate effective solutions
Participate in committees and ensure ongoing communication with relevant stakeholders
Drive the patient experience agenda within Emergency Departments
Coach and develop immediate subordinates; provide clear, documented feedback and support individual development
Adhere to Human Resource policies and communicate organizational information clearly to staff
Foster employee engagement through evidence-based strategies and regular rounding
Build and maintain strong networks to support department and organizational objectives
Mentor and identify future leaders within the team
Enforce emergency department standards; develop, implement, and monitor compliance processes
Maintain a quality improvement program that evaluates critical care aspects and operational excellence
Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards for all staff and patients
Monitor and enhance department operational quality in accordance with policies and professional standards
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required
Master’s degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
3+ years of experience in emergency services required
3+ years of leadership experience preferred
Active RN license (in accordance with state law and regulation)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) required
Basic Life Support (BLS) required
