The Storm Water Assembly Laborer is responsible for a variety of tasks including reading and following blueprints for assemblies on special order units, sizing PVC piping to specific lengths, and gluing fittings as directed. The SWA Laborer will operate a forklift, overhead crane, a variety of hand tools, and assorted powered equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Other duties include completing additional structural assemblies that require mounting steel components to precast structures as directed.
EssentialFunctions and Major Responsibilities
- Follows all safety and company policies/procedures and promotes a safe culture
- Complies with all OSHA safety requirements, work rules and regulations
- Wear all required personal protective equipment
- Maintain all required paperwork
- Inspects, cleans and performs basic preventative maintenance on machines and equipment
- Maintain housekeeping within all production, storage and waste areas
- Follows all work instructions, procedures and job safety analyses (JSAs)
- Identify and report any unsafe working conditions or equipment
- Effectively communicate issues to management
- Performs various general labor tasks including shoveling, cleanup and removal of damaged product
- Operation of hand tools and equipment
- Regular, reliable and predictable attendance is necessary to perform the essential functions of this position
- Complete an assembly in a timely manner
- Perform internal QC to verify proper assembly procedures were followed
- Size PVC piping and glue to specific details
- Anchor various bolts/lugs to secure internal components
- Lift, carry and place internal components in units being worked on
- Receives on‑the‑job training to apply various processes to perform a duty by machine and/or hand application
- May cross-train to learn how to apply and operate machines/equipment
- Cement/plastics finishing
- Inspect product before and after processes
- Cleans and inspects machines
- Loads and unloads product in machinery in a safe manner
- Operate forklift and skip loader
- Ensure pipe is cleaned prior to entering processes
- Inspects and maintains machinery to ensure production of quality product
- Reading drawings
- Identify (mark) pipe with spray paint or stamps
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary
- Proficient in safety regulations and quality control related items
- Must have sufficient visual acuity and clear speech to perform the essential functions
- Regularly attend work and be punctual
- Must be skilled in using both hand and power tools
- Regularly lift at least 50 lbs
- Operate overhead cranes for lowering rebar cages, placing and pouring concrete, and stripping products
- Assist other trades within the plant as required
