Quality Technician 1 – 80 Acres Farms
Position Summary:
Quality Technician 1 responsible for driving the 80 Acres Farms Quality and Food Safety program across all farm processes.
$19.00/yr - $21.00/yr

Our founders, Mike and Tisha, created a farm that produces up to 300 times more food than an ordinary farm on a smaller footprint, without pesticides. Farms run on 100% renewable energy, use 95% less water, and deliver food within 48 hours to enhance freshness and reduce waste. We operate commercial farms in Ohio, Kentucky, and soon-to-be Georgia, along with R&D farms in Arkansas and The Hague, Netherlands.
Brand‑name salads, microgreens, herbs, and tomatoes are sold through retailers such as Kroger, Whole Foods, and Sysco, among others. Our investors include General Atlantic, Siemens, Barclays, Ocado, Priva, and Signify/Philips.
The Quality Technician will perform process audits, product monitoring, shelf‑life evaluations, and food safety data collection. Responsibilities include on‑time identification and escalation of issues, training support, corrective action implementation, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement projects. This entry‑level role provides a foundation for a career in quality.
Key Responsibilities and Duties- Monitor and verify compliance with food safety and quality programs and procedures on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Evaluate and document effectiveness of cleaning and sanitation of equipment prior to start‑up; verify general areas remain sanitary throughout shifts.
- Evaluate product adherence to specification at harvest, mixing, and packing stages.
- Collect environmental and product samples in compliance with the schedule.
- Collect and evaluate shelf‑life samples in compliance with the schedule.
- Verify and calibrate food safety and quality metric monitoring devices such as metal detectors, scales, and temperature recorders.
- Monitor and verify implementation of corrective actions at the farm level.
- Ensure farm compliance with food safety regulations.
- Support continuous improvement projects as needed.
- Support production operations as needed, including hands‑on tasks within the production environment.
- 1+ year experience with food handling or processing.
- Familiarity with GMPs and HACCP.
- Inquisitive and detail‑oriented mindset.
- Comfortable with computer systems and programs.
- Degree or applicable experience in Agriculture, Food Science, or Chemistry (preferred).
- Repetitive motion throughout the shift.
- Standing or walking for a long duration of time.
- Crouching and kneeling.
- Lifting up to 50lbs.
- Exposure to 39‑degree temperatures when working in the leafy packaging area.
